How Convey handles your data
Last updated September 5, 2026. Plain language, on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email support@letsconvey.com.
What Convey is
Convey is a Chrome extension and website (letsconvey.com) that records your screen and microphone while you talk, then produces a shorter, narrated demo video you can share by link. To do that we necessarily process video of your screen and audio of your voice.
What we collect
- Recordings. The screen video and microphone audio you capture with the extension, the transcript we make of your speech, screenshots (keyframes) extracted from the video, and the clicks, scrolls, page URLs and cursor positions the extension notes during a recording. Nothing is captured when you are not recording.
- Account. Your email address, and — if you sign in with Google — your name and profile picture as Google provides them.
- Produced content. The script, narration audio, titles and summaries our AI pipeline generates from your recording.
- Engagement. Views of shared demos (approximate location from IP, browser type, how much was watched, the site the link was opened from), emoji reactions, comments, and questions asked of a demo.
- Payments. Handled by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer id, plan and credit balance — never card numbers.
- Technical. Server logs and error reports needed to run the service.
How we use it
To produce your demos, show them to people you share links with, run your account and credits, send you the emails you asked for (sign-in codes, “your demo is ready”, views and comments — the last two you can turn off in Settings), prevent abuse, and improve the product. We do not sell your data and we do not use your recordings to train AI models.
Who else processes it
To make a demo, parts of your recording are sent to service providers acting on our behalf, under their standard data-processing terms:
- OpenAI (transcription and the AI “director” that writes the script from your transcript and screenshots)
- Deepgram (transcription)
- ElevenLabs (text-to-speech narration)
- Vercel (hosting and file storage), Supabase (database and sign-in), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Google (optional sign-in)
Sharing and links
Demos are reachable by anyone who has the link. Links are long and random, not listed anywhere, and excluded from search engines — but a link is a key: anyone you send it to can watch and forward it. Comments show the commenter’s name. Anonymous emoji reactions show no identity. If you sign in to watch a demo, its creator can see that you watched.
Recording other people
Your screen may show other people’s messages, names or faces, and your microphone may pick up other voices. You are responsible for having the right to record and share what you record, and for complying with the laws that apply to you.
Retention and deletion
- Recordings you never signed in to claim are deleted automatically after 7 days.
- You can delete any demo from your dashboard, or your whole account from Settings. Deletion removes the files immediately and permanently — there are no backups of media to restore from.
- Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires.
Cookies and local storage
We use a sign-in cookie, a random per-browser id (to count views once and rate-limit reactions), and remembered preferences like captions on/off. No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can access, export, correct or delete your data. Most of that is self-serve (dashboard, Settings). For anything else, email support@letsconvey.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes
We will post changes here and update the date above. Material changes will be announced by email.
